The DVN Interior Workshop last week in Torino was a grand success. With more than 120 participants, it was a great opportunity to listen, discuss, and debate matters to do with interior design and sustainability.
This week’s newsletter summarizes keynotes from Stellantis, Italdesign, and Ford, which paved the way for presentations on design and sustainability innovation and describes the materials- and interior-related lectures.
We show you expo booths where Covestro, Kurz, Mari Levi Group, SP3, Technoteam, and Tactotek exhibited products, technologies, techniques, and capabilities.

Roundtable: Materials L to R Matthieu Jung, Patrizia Pia Pernice (Covestro), Georg Grestenberger (Borealis), Ester Quintanilla (Dow), Andrea Balzarotti (Bcomp), Olimpia Migliore (DVN)
The workshop ended with two panel discussions, drawing conclusions to guide for the future:
- Sustainability is no longer just a nice marketing buzzword, it is a license to operate.
- The number of options must be narrowed to allow designers and engineers to focus.
- ZNC (zero net carbon) transport is not only EVs, but also green materials and circularity.
- Waste is feedstock; sustainability is a shift in feedstock.
- On-cost at zero max
- Show cars to test and evaluate new materials
- Natural materials don’t have to be visible as such.
I’m looking forward to continuing this conversation in the weekly newsletter, and during the next DVN Interior Workshop in Köln on 8-9 April, 2025. Save the date!
Sincerely yours,
